Zhao, Chiu, Chu, Chew, Chao
& of course Jew, but that’s only a special limited American edition, est. 1950s
7th largest surname in mainland China & roots going back to a city awarded to a loyal 1000 BC chauffeur who rescued his boss during a rebellion. That’s right, I’m named after a city and my ancestor’s the brave man who owned that city. And it was the royal surname of the Song Dynasty (who were they again?). Can you say baller?
this weekend is (was?) just too weird.
sunshine & rain? only one #1 seed in the final four? freezing temps when it was & will be gorgeous spring days? trips back & forth between manhattan & queens nonstop? 3 days that felt unruly short for once? waking up early?
Glad this weekend is over because i need to get through this & next week and next month. but i miss it already
We’ve only gotten down to the Sweet Sixteen & my brackets are already messed up. It’s not even worth me following already with these Cinderella teams still in the mix. My dad & I were shocked & slightly amused, not to mention angry. Where’s my Villanova? How the freak did Cornell get here? Next games aren’t on until Thursday night, which gives me just enough time to wrap my head around what went down this weekend. Whoever saw this coming & predicted it with their brackets, I bow down to you. But at least Kentucky is where I need it to be to take it all; as long as I get that one right, I’ll be happy.
Edit: For those of you unfamiliar with March Madness, I’m talking about college basketball.
Awesome street art (crimes?), worldwide.
So I’ve been smiling a lot lately. And that makes me happy.
Or does being happy make me smile? Hmm I can’t be sure.
Why am I smiling, you may be asking…. just a few reasons from the past week:
- spring breakkkk was awesome (now back to reality)
- cooking delicious food & having yummy desserts
- best friends going all the way back to elementary school
- trifle things i normally don’t appreciate but noticed
- gifts for others rather than myself
- having my mind blown by shutter island
- hand-holding, hugs & being with friends
- bubble tea & mochi ice cream followed by 24hr best buy
- sunshine, sunglasses & toes in the grass
- shopping for new shoes (who doesn’t love new shoes?)
- sushi on conveyor belts & stacks of dishes
- seeing my parents for the first time in a month
- sleeping early & getting up early (earlier than normal)
- realizing that things aren’t as bad as they seem when taken in perspective
Yay for it being (almost) spring!
Boo to losing an hour!
It’s so goddamn late/early already.
“When I walk in the club
All eyes on me
I’m with the party rock crew
All drinks are free
We like Ciroc
We love Patrón
We came to party rock
Everybody its on
Shots shots shots shots shots shots
shots shots shots shots shots
shots shots shots shots shots
everybodyyyyyyy”
—LMFAO, “Shots”
I had my fair share tonight with the girls.
6 at least… but I’m pretty sure there was more.
& I’m totally fine :D Thank you, Ashley <3

So i took my last midterm today (didn’t do so swell, but let’s not get into that right now) and because my dreaded week of midterms from hell is over, spring break is basically here! Yes, I technically still have 2 classes tomorrow, but whatever. I AM OFFICIALLY IN SPRING BREAK MODEEEEE & it feels so good.
If anyone is around over the next week and a half, let’s hang out! The above picture is certainly where I will NOT be, because I will be stuck in the city working and earning that precious dough. I guess to earn money, you’ve got to save money. I’m going to need this break for intense relaxation, chillage, and retail therapy. So if anyone’s free, TEXT MEEEE! & I’m really hoping this spring-time weather lasts, because it’s been gorgeous these past couple of days. Now it’s time to sleep like I haven’t slept in days.
(haha, i tried to make it sound like “I’m on a boat” because i’ve had that stuck in my head since the drag show yesterday)
For those of you unfamiliar with NYU terminology, that’s our library. I’ve been here since chapter ended at 6ish… so that makes it about 4+ hours now. I think I’m going to take the last bus home, which leaves at 11:46PM; that will have made it almost 6 hours in this goddamn depressing institution. And the only reason I’m leaving at that time is because I don’t want to be stranded on campus and forced to walk home or spend the night here. This will most likely occur again tomorrow and the day after that. Agh, ok, rambling done; back to studying.
EDIT: Just realized that I haven’t eaten since brunch. My stomach is ready to digest itself. Crap.
The next two weeks are going to kick my ass. Saying good-bye to my social life & locking in until the end of next week. See everyone 5 tests, a presentation & a shit ton of hours wasted studying from now. Please have lots of fun so that I have something enjoyable to read during my study breaks.
EDIT: And I just realized that it’s March 1st already. Dang, it’s scary how time flies (highly overused cliche, but very true in this case)
